Nikki’s Picks: Press Tea
While many in NYC are avid coffee drinkers, I am definitely a tea person. Green, black, oolong, rooibos, ginger, peppermint – you name it, I probably drink it. Pretty much every coffee shop throughout the city has decent tea offerings, which is wonderful. But of course, tea isn’t the main star.
And that’s what makes Press Tea so great – tea is the featured act, and it is featured in the best possible manner. The teas are very high quality, as the owner expends a lot of effort to source only the best stuff. They are steeped for just the right amount of time with a unique “press system” (hence the business name) to really bring out the optimal flavor. The shop itself is a charming, cozy, bright little oasis away from the high energy that is Seventh Avenue. Perfect for getting a little work done away from the office or to just enjoy a nice afternoon break. And in warmer weather, their iced teas are just soooo refreshing.
I certainly hope Press Tea has expansion plans…

*EDIT: So sad to report that Press Tea is now closed. 🙁 I’m really going to miss this spot!
