Summer Rewind – Hiking Around Mohonk
During one of our many drives around Ulster County, my husband and I discovered the Mohonk Mountain House grounds and trails. At the time we learned about it, it was far too cold for us to enjoy any kind of leisurely stroll along the trails because, you know, this past winter it felt like the Arctic in most of New York state. So we pledged to come back during warmer weather to take it in. The return visit was worth it – we came back on a gorgeous, sunny (but not humid or scorching) day, and we were treated to lovely vistas of the Mohonk Mountain House and the Shawangunk Ridge. The cost of access to the grounds for the day is just a wee bit pricey for a couple – $52 for the both of us – but the money is well spent since it goes towards maintaining the trails and general property. We don’t mind contributing to keep up beautiful things 🙂
